Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Many people do, and sometimes they even follow through on making them happen.
Unfortunately, it is all too easy for many of us to fall short on the New Year’s resolutions we make. And oftentimes, it is simply the goals we set for ourselves are a bit too lofty and out of reach. We try and it’s too hard and the harder it is, the easier it is to give up.
So, how about this year, we all try to aim for some basic, easy, doable goals that still have the ability to impact your life in a big way?

New Year’s Resolutions Worth Making
This year, I really wanted to make my New Year’s resolutions feel DOABLE. I wanted to think of small things that I have done before – things I know from personal experience can really make a difference in life. And personally, I love this list!
Resolve to Love Yourself
Look into your eyes in the bathroom mirror every day and say, “I love you.” Even if it feels weird. Even if you don’t believe it. Just do it. Every day. See what happens.
Resolve to Save Money
Put 10% of every dollar you earn into savings. If you really can’t do that, put 5% away at first. Increase to 10% when you can. That’s only $10 for every $100 you make. But it will add up.
Resolve to Grow Something
Grow something you can eat. If you’ve never grown a plant, just try one thing – a vegetable you can grow in a container or even an herb you enjoy. If you are an experienced gardener, try out a new heirloom vegetable you’ve never grown before.
Resolve to Make One Small Goal Per Month
Just one small goal, starting from wherever you are. This is just for you and there are no judgments. Just think of one small goal that is meaningful to you – and follow through for a month. Ideally, each month you start meeting one new small goal – while continuing the one(s) before – until, by the end of the year, you’ve created 12.
Seriously – small goals. Goals like, “keeping the bathroom or kitchen sink clean each day” or “make sure the garage door is closed each night”, etc. reachable…yet meaningful…goals.
Resolve to Move Around More
Make time each day for some movement. If you already work out – great! Challenge yourself to do a little more. If you don’t work out, find a place to start. Walk around the block or at your local shopping mall. If that is too much for you, try walking 100 steps in your home every time you get up from your chair. No matter what your fitness level is – you can find some way to move. Build from there.
Resolve to “Sing Your Song”
Find ways to express yourself. Write a story or a song. Create a piece of art. Or simply speak the truth of your heart to someone you love. As Wayne W. Dyer said, “Do not die with your music still in you.”
I invite you to join me in these New Year’s resolutions. I would also love to hear about some of yours! So if you would like to share, feel free to comment below.
